Illovo Sugar South Africa was proud to be part of ABF Sugar's groundbreaking 3-day agricultural workshop earlier this week lead by ABF Sugar Head of Agriculture, Alasdair Harris.
This event brought together Agricultural Heads, directors, suppliers, contractors and consultants from across our estates in South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi and Eswatini. Together, they explored innovative ways to strengthen farming operations and sustainability across the group.
"Beyond knowledge exchange, team-building activities fostered stronger collaboration across diverse teams and partners. This workshop marks an exciting milestone in our journey to advance sustainable agriculture and strengthen partnerships across ABF Sugar's global estates", said Alasdair Harris.
Key themes included soil biodiversity testing, nitrogen reduction methods and wet weather planting techniques. Teams were privileged to learn from Dr Andrew Sharman on care-driven leadership and safety, Dr. Shamim Bodhanya on collective knowledge-sharing, and Ben Taylor-Davies on regenerative agriculture and reducing nitrogen use.
"We remain committed to driving innovation and sustainability across all our operations. We look forward to applying these insights across our estates and continuing to build a resilient, regenerative farming system that benefits our people, our communities, and the environment" said Andrew Cochrane, Agriculture Executive.
