Illovo Sugar South Africa has proudly served as the headline sponsor of the Wartburg Race for many years, an enduring partnership that has helped grow the event into one of the region’s most anticipated community gatherings. More than just a race, the Wartburg Classic has become a celebration of local heritage, the spirit of togetherness, and the deep bonds shared between Illovo, our growers, and the communities in which we operate.
Our long-term support of this event reflects Illovo’s commitment to strengthening relationships beyond the fields and factories. The Wartburg Race provides a unique space where growers, employees, families, and community members can connect in an informal, enjoyable setting.
The race took place on Saturday, 21 February 2026, at Wartburg Kirchdorf School, with the first start at 05h00. The programme offered something for everyone from seasoned athletes to casual participants and families looking for a fun day out.
We also proudly showcased our Illovo mobile kitchen, where we served delicious treats topped with our signature syrup products. Participants and supporters enjoyed warm doughnuts, fluffy pancakes, and other syrup infused favourites, giving everyone a sweet taste of the final product that begins with the cane grown in our fields.
